The University of Michigan’s Life Sciences Institute (LSI) has partnered with FirstIgnite to find industry collaboration for their Natural Products Discovery Core. The Natural Products Discovery Core holds an extensive library of 45,000 (and growing) natural product extracts derived from diverse marine and terrestrial actinomycetes, fungi, and cyanobacteria.Through the core, researchers at U-M and external partners can develop unique, bioactive, patentable small molecules from candidates identified through high-throughput screening. Some of the core’s research projects include natural product discovery to identify inhibitors of eIF4E, discovering novel therapeutics for treating fibrotic disease, and the discovery of STING agonists for cancer immunotherapy. Research conducted by the LSI gives the University of Michigan a competitive advantage. Would your company like to be an affiliate?
