Collaborate: Ceramic Wickless Vapor Chambers for Thermal Management

By November 3, 2023November 6th, 2023No Comments

FirstIgnite is supporting the commercialization of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s ceramic wickless vapor chambers for thermal management technology, in which the ceramic material used has a thermal expansion coefficient nearer matched to that of the silicon substrate than conventional metallic heat sinks. This technology has high thermal conductivity, low electrical conductivity to prevent short-circuits, and thermal expansion coefficients similar to silicon, reducing heat-induced mechanical failures.

This technology is applicable to microelectronics manufacturing for advanced thermal management solutions, high-performance computing systems requiring efficient heat dissipation, and portable electronic devices that require safe, reliable, and compact thermal management systems. The thermal management market was worth $10.7 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach $19.3 billion by 2028.

The University of Illinois at Chicago’s ceramic wickless vapor chambers for thermal management technology is ready for collaboration (licensing, partnerships, industry feedback, etc.). Is your company the right fit? If you’d be available for a conversation with the University of Illinois at Chicago team, you can schedule a time directly on their team’s calendar here.
